PORT DICKSON: Cabinet members should not misuse their powers and privileges, and this extends to their conduct during by-election campaigns, says Port Dickson by-election candidate Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Anwar said his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, currently the country's Deputy Prime Minister, had not announced any development projects for Port Dickson. He said this was unlike before where ministers and politicians would come to launch events and subsequently announce projects for the constituencies during elections or by-elections campaigns. Speaking from his personal experience as Deputy Prime Minister in the 90s, Anwar said when he went to enrol his daughter Nurul Izzah Anwar into a local university, he did not use a government vehicle to get there. Anwar said he even declined a scholarship that Nurul Izzah was offered at university, as he felt there were other students who were in need of such assistance.
