On Friday, the prime minister, Scott Morrison, said he was “deeply sorry” for failures in the aged care system. “But Victoria, generally, has a problem with infected aged care staff and healthcare workers, and so they needed to start sourcing workers from interstate. The federal aged care minister, Richard Colbeck, described the images of the incident as “heartbreaking and absolutely unacceptable”. “I have requested that the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commissioner investigate this urgently this evening,” he told Guardian Australia.
