For a cause: Students of Sri Meeankshi Government College for Women taking out a rally in the city on Monday. | Photo Credit: G_Moorthymore-inAbout 500 National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers of Sri Meenakshi Government College for Women took out a rally here on Monday to highlight the pollution caused by non biogradabale plastic products. The rally was aimed at educating the residents, road users and commercial establishments in Sellur and Thathaneri areas about the hazards of plastic waste, said NSS Programme Officer C. Kavitha. The students stressed the need for switching to cloth bags instead of plastic bags. They urged the people not to dump waste in public places, not use Vaigai riverbed and banks for open defecation, she said.
