Police have arrested five people, including a leader of the Anti-discrimination Student Movement, in allegations of extortion in Dhaka’s Gulshan. They were arrested from in front of a house in Gulshan No. 2 on Saturday evening, said Al Amin Hossein, additional deputy commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Gulshan Division. Among the arrestees, Riad is among the joint conveners of the Anti-discrimination Student Movement’s private university wing. Details will be available once we receive the complaint.”A policeman from Gulshan Police Station said the arrestees had gone to the home of a former member of parliament to demand extortion money.
