The government on Wednesday approved the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Anti-Terrorism Unit. DMP Headquarters Assistant Inspector General (AIG) (Intelligence and Special Affairs) Md Moniruzzaman confirmed the approval of the unit and said they will begin working soon. We had to face a lot of problems without a dedicated anti-terrorism unit, working all over the country. According to the government order, the 581-member Anti-Terrorism Unit will be headed by an additional inspector general of police. This new unit will have, one deputy inspector general (DIG), two additional DIGs, five superintendents of police, 10 additional superintendents of police, 12 assistant superintendents of police, 75 inspectors, 125 sub-inspectors (armed and disarmed), 140 assistant sub-inspectors (armed and disarmed) and 200 constables.
