Team USA, after blowouts of China (119-62) and Venezuela (113-69) in their first two games, had its first tough test in Rio against Australia. Carmelo Anthony, who led the team with his 31 points, will become the first 3-time basketball Olympic gold medalist if the USA can secure its historic 15th gold. Australia, with a full lineup of their NBA players, started strong in the match and did not take long to have an eight points lead in the first quarter (25-17.) But, it took until the fourth quarter for USA to finally have a clear lead and pull away from the Australian 'Boomers' and finally finished the epic match with a victory. Thanks to Golden State Warriors' Draymond Green's three-point play at the end of the third quarter which made USA move out to a narrow 70-67 lead.
