It’s one of the ways the Washington Nationals pushed for third baseman Anthony Rendon to go to next week’s All-Star Game as the winner of Major League Baseball’s Final Vote. Rendon didn’t make it, beaten out by Justin Turner, the Los Angeles’ Dodgers third baseman. Turner has played in 16 fewer games than Rendon this season. In their campaign to help him get the spot, the Nationals also pointed out that Rendon has reached base safely in more games than Turner has played.
