Anthony Bourdain describes lunching on $6 bun cha and beer with Barack Obama in Vietnam

pic.twitter.com/KgC3VIEPQr — Anthony Bourdain (@Bourdain) May 23, 2016Obama and Bourdain met in a hole-in-the-wall restaurant in Hanoi’s Me Tri neighbourhood during a heavy downpour, taping the the second part of an interview for Bourdain’s show, one of CNN’s most popular documentary series. President Barack Obama’s chopstick skills are “on point” according to star chef Anthony Bourdain, who ate out with the leader Monday afternoon in Vietnam for an episode of his food travelogue Part Unknown. On the menu: bun cha, a noodle and grilled pork dish, and Hanoi beer for a whopping $6. Obama has often mixed his political duties with TV spots and interviews that emphasize a more down-to-earth side to the leader. The two stopped by the restaurant to discuss Obama’s trip to Asia and his interest in the people, food and culture of Vietnam, CNN said.
