We seek a Makarrata Commission to supervise a process of agreement-making between governments and First Nations and truth-telling about our history. The Makarrata Commission was considered an important enough item of business at Uluru to warrant its own paragraph. How exactly can Australia come together and work towards a more robust, genuine, inclusive and truthful tomorrow, if our government reneges on a proper Makarrata Commission? My key argument, to this day, is that the Uluru Statement had the order of business backwards.
