Anthem said it has revised its plan to offer individual health insurance in Virginia after “learning that 63 counties and cities” would be bare and have no access to coverage in 2018 under the Affordable Care Act. "Sixty-three of these cities and counties would otherwise not have access to Individual market health plans," Anthem said in a statement. The move comes as the U.S. Senate works on a bipartisan approach to shoring up the ACA’s public exchanges by funding cost-sharing subsidies for low income patients. Anthem has already announced plans to scale back participation or leave the ACA's public exchanges in Indiana, Wisconsin, Missouri, Nevada and Ohio for 2018 as deadlines. In Kentucky, however, Anthem said it would reduce its statewide participation on the ACA's public exchange from all 120 counties to 59.
