AdvertisementIt comes after he was criticised by the party’s co-founder, former Labour MP Zarah Sultana, earlier this week over gender-critical social media posts. He is also the second independent MP to quit – Adnan Hussain, the MP for Blackburn, resigned on November 14. It leaves the fledging group with four MPs: Corbyn, Sultana, Shockat Adam and Ayoub Khan, all of whom campaigned on a pro- Palestine platform in 2024. Mohamed claims in his departure statement on Friday that Sultana “voluntarily left the Independent Alliance and Your Party stewarding group” in September.
