TORONTO — Before Wednesday night’s game against the Baltimore Orioles, Toronto manager John Gibbons was asked about all the potential playoff scenarios that could yet play out: the Blue Jays had the best shot at hosting the wild-card game, but nothing was for certain. Super-closer Zach Britton shut the Jays down in the bottom of the inning, and Toronto’s lead on the Orioles (86-72) was down to one game. Baltimore’s Kim fouled off several pitches before sending a blast over the right-field fence and into the Orioles bullpen. That’s the stuff playoff runs are made of. Given the performance of the Toronto starters, the Jays should be on a six-game winning streak in this homestand.
