WATERLOO — Up to 45 SUVs had their tires flattened in the neighbourhoods of Upper Beechwood in Waterloo and Beechwood Forest in Kitchener Friday night. An activist group — The Tyre Extinguishers Waterloo Region — claimed responsibility in an email sent to the media Saturday morning. “Last night, we (Tyre Extinguishers) flattened the tires of 45 SUVs in multiple locations across the Waterloo Region, including the Upper Beechwood and Beechwood Forest neighbourhoods,” the group said. Waterloo Regional Police said it received more than 10 reports Saturday from residents of their tires being flattened. Police said the unknown suspects left notes on the vehicles’ windshields saying their tires were flattened because they were driving large vehicles.
