The Flagstaff Festival of Science, which takes place annually at the end of September, was themed “The Mammoth” this year after discoveries made by keynote speaker Beth Shapiro in the field of ancient DNA and the concept of de-extinction. Across town inside the East Flagstaff Community Library on a Wednesday morning, library specialist Shea McCall hosted the event Prehistoric Storytime. The events at the libraries, specifically during the Flagstaff Festival of Science, were done to showcase the public resources accessible to patrons of the area. In downtown Flagstaff, within the newly established Planet Science store, a workshop titled Animal Bones took place. The Flagstaff Festival of Science continues to be a great opportunity to get kids interested in science and learning.
