The accident caused severe brain damage and Anne remains in a coma with no expectation of recovering. “Unfortunately, due to her accident, Anne suffered a severe anoxic brain injury and remains in a coma, in critical condition,” the rep says in a statement on behalf of Heche’s family. And for most of her life, Anne suffered from mental illness due to her traumatic childhood.
