We cannot do the same, however, for Angkas, the ride-hailing app that makes use of motorcycles. A Mandaluyong City court stopped Angkas operations in November 2017, on grounds of safety, upon the request of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB). For some reason, the court allowed Angkas to resume services in September and barred the LTFRB from interfering in its operations. Fortunately, the Supreme Court issued a temporary restraining order (TRO) on the ruling of the Mandaluyong court, stopping Angkas operations anew. Angkas needs to redirect its lobbying efforts to Congress and not wage a social media campaign against LTFRB, which is merely implementing the law.
