The chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel, holds a press conference on Sunday evening to confirm reports that she intends to seek re-election as the leader of the CDU party, and therefore, run again as a candidate for leader of the country. Merkel tells reporters that the decision was “anything but trivial” and said she had thought about it “for an endlessly long time”
