On Sunday, he captured his first singles title in in nearly three years, beating Stan Wawrinka, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, to win the ATP 250 European Open in Antwerp. During the U.S. Open, Murray skipped the Grand Slam and instead played Rafael Nadal’s Mallorca Open, losing in the round of 16. Against Wawrinka, Murray rebounded after losing the first set and won the title ninth months after surgery that could have ended his career.
