Towards the end of The Edge, an outstanding new film on the rise and fall of Andrew Strauss's Test side, Jonathan Trott lays himself bare. Jonny Bairstow's critique of the reaction to England's faltering World Cup campaign is another. Winning the World Cup, he says, would be the 'cherry on the cake'. When I look at this objectively, all the England, England Lions, England Under-19s and all the good young players will be playing a lot of 50-over cricket and the ones that aren't will be playing a lot of T20 and 100-ball cricket. 'This is probably the first time we've felt we can win the World Cup,' says Strauss.
