Andrew Scheer's Conservatives sweep over the Prairies in the 2019 federal election results

EDMONTON — Across the prairies several prominent Liberals lost their seats to Tory challengers, as the Conservatives took nearly every single riding in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Across the border in Alberta, in Edmonton — normally a holdout of progressivism in wild rose country — all incumbent Liberals lost their seats. A third Saskatchewan riding, Regina–Lewvan, was held by independent Erin Weir, who was booted from the NDP caucus in May 2018 by leader Jagmeet Singh over sexual harassment complaints. Conservative Warren Steinley, who has previously served as a provincial MLA for the provincial Saskatchewan party, was significantly leading New Democrat businessman Jigar Patel. Meanwhile, in Manitoba, where a provincial election last month re-elected Pallister’s Progressive Conservatives, but also saw Wab Kinew’s New Democrats gain several seats, even more ridings were up for grabs.
