McKinlay has been named as the Scottish Professional Football League chief executive officer of the year, having previously won it two years earlier and has a proven track record in Scottish sport. He has previously been the chief executive of Scottish Golf and was a board member at the Scottish Football Association, where he worked for six years. Rangers chairman John Bennett is currently holding the chief executive position at Ibrox until they can find a replacement.
