Anderson, who threw 63 of his 100 pitches for strikes, allowed only one other hit in the game — a single by Andrelton Simmons leading off the fifth. Matt Chapman hit a two-run home run and Josh Phegley had two hits to lead Oakland’s offense. The Angels didn’t have a baserunner until Mike Trout walked with one out in the fourth. David Fletcher walked with two out in the sixth but he, like Trout and Simmons before him, didn’t get beyond first base. Liam Hendriks relieved Anderson in the eighth and got the final four outs of the game.
