ambush +escalation in violent attacks +NEW DELHI: Policemen who were martyred in anby terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir 's Anantnag district earlier today had their faces disfigured and weapons snatched.A Jammu and Kashmir Police official confirmed that faces of the six slain cops were disfigured by the terrorists, who also fled with their weapons.10-15 heavily armed terrorists had ambushed the police patrol party near Thajiwara in Achabal area of Anantnag today evening and began firing at them indiscriminately. The police were not travelling in a bullet proof vehicle.The policemen retaliated bravely, but they could not break the trap laid for them. The terrorists first overpowered them, then fatally shot them in their faces from close range and looted their weapons.Six policemen, including Sub-Inspector Feroz Dar died on the spot, senior police officials said. Apart from the fatalities, some other policemen sustained serious bullet injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital. The bloodshed will not take us anywhere, it is only the murder of humanity," DGP Vaid said.
