Obiano told newsmen in Awka that the plan was imperative, stressing that the committee would be enlarged to include members from the five Southeastern states and beyond, because the deceased was a worthy son of the Anambra and who deserves a worth burial. Meanwhile, the Governing Council and the Management of Federal polytechnic Oko Anambra State have called on the Federal Government to immortalize Dr. Alex Ifeanyichukwu Ekwueme. The management said that immortalising its founder will serve as a pat on the back and source of encouragement to the community, especially when considering his major role in the nation’s democracy. “Ekwueme will be remembered for his fatherly role and his efforts in attracting development to the polytechnic as well as political strength for the entire Southeast zone in particular and Nigeria as a whole. “The news of his demise, which is grievously shocking has thrown the entire polytechnic community into mourning especially when the history of the Federal polytechnic Oko can never be told without the name of the late Patriarch being mentioned.”
