An Anaheim police officer fatally shot an assault suspect Saturday night after a foot chase, authorities said. The suspect, who was not immediately identified, was wanted on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon, Sgt. Daron Wyatt of the Anaheim Police Department said in a prepared statement. Anaheim police and California Highway Patrol officers were searching for the suspect after he tried to hit one vehicle on the 91 Freeway near East Street, then rammed another, authorities said. The suspect and another individual were later seen running from their car, a 2003 Honda Pilot, police said.
