According to officials at the Collectorate, at least 20 to 30 cases of elder abuse and ill-treatment were reported in six months. According to the survey, 74% of elders living in Hyderabad face rude behaviour while 60% experience age-based abuse and mistreatment. The city also ranks high in bad behaviour towards elders with 39% of the elders complaining of bad behaviour by post office staff. The ill-treatment of elders in the city is worse than the nation average.
