An aesthetic display of wearable art

The exhibits at the cozy little art gallery are, by no means, avant-garde or abstract pieces that have a very different effect on the art enthusiast. Rather, this particular exhibition features sari art, with the whole length and breadth of the traditional six-yard garment of the Subcontinent becoming the canvas. The paintings done on each elegant sari are reminiscent of Monet’s impressionist pieces, particularly his monumental series, “Water Lilies”. Shamuk’s clothing can be best described as wearable art, as each piece of clothing is hand- painted to perfection. The exhibition, hence, caters to art and fashion enthusiasts alike by having the exquisite, visually enthralling pieces on display.
