The BJP continued to invoke Lord Ram in the election campaign in Bengal on Tuesday with party president Amit Shah challenging Mamata Banerjee to arrest him for chanting “Jai Shri Ram”. I want to ask Mamata Didi, if Shri Ram’s name is not taken in India, will it be chanted in Pakistan?” Shah asked at a rally in West Midnapore’s Ghatal. He shouted “Jai Shri Ram” and requested the crowd to chant the slogan repeatedly. In Bankura’s Bishnupur, Shah said: “Mamata Didi, this is Bengal and not Pakistan. I will chant Jai Hind, Vande Mataram, Durga Maa Ki Jai, Kali Maa Ki Jai and others, but not the BJP slogan.”
