NEW DELHI/KANNUR: BJP president Amit Shah cancelled his Kannur visit on Thursday even as senior party leaders confirmed that he will return to the state and take part in the Jan Raksha Yatra he had launched on Tuesday against political violence in Kerala.BJP media coordinator Anil Baluni said Shah had to cancel his visit due to important meetings in the national capital. "The party president has launched the campaign and he will return to the state on the concluding day on October 27 in Thiruvananthapuram," he said.Baluni had confirmed on Wednesday that Shah will join the yatra on Thursday. The BJP chief was to lead a rally and address a public meeting at Thalassery in Kannur district.The yatra was to pass through the hometown of chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan . As Shah did not turn up, party general secretary Arun Singh led the campaign on Thursday. Sources also hinted at intelligence inputs that Shah should avoid walking through Pinarayi, the CM's hometown and a CPM stronghold.
