An Amherst, N.S., man faces charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault after a 47-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries in a stabbing Thursday afternoon. Amherst police arrested David Alexander Baxter, 41, after a man was stabbed multiple times at a West Pleasant Street residence and had to be airlifted to Halifax where he underwent surgery. Baxter was in Amherst provincial court Friday afternoon where he was arraigned and remanded into custody until his next court appearance June 8. Baxter is also charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. Amherst police say the three people knew each other and the attack was not a random act.
