American nabbed at airportAn American accused of conspiring to kidnap a Taiwanese businessman for ransom on March 28 was arrested while trying to leave the country yesterday. Matthew Ryan Wilson, 38, was wanted on arrest warrants issued by Bangkok South Criminal Court for extortion, illegal assembly, attempted murder, assault and abduction for ransom. Police, acting on a tip-off, were patrolling Suvarnabhumi Airport and noticed Mr Wilson in the departure lounge. The arrest was jointly conducted by Crime Suppression Division's sub-division 2 and Investigation and Suppression Sub-division Immigration Division 2 under a command of CSD commander Pol Maj Gen Suwat Saengnum. A police investigation led to arrest warrants being issued for eight people -- seven foreigners and a Thai.
