American Airlines’ 25,000 flight attendants won a victory when their union convinced the airline to offer alternate uniforms after the troubled rollout of new uniforms in September, union president Bob Ross said Wednesday. Some of the new uniforms triggered adverse reactions including itching, rashes and breathing difficulties, the Association of Professional Flight Attendants said. The union objected through a series of steps including discussions with the company, establishment of a hotline to field complaints and a grievance filing. “This is a victory,” Ross said in an interview. APFA said it collected reports of problems from more than 3,000 flight attendants.
