American Airlines Launches Live Streaming TV On Select Flights

Fort Worth, Texas-based American Airlines is adding live television to its spectrum of in flight entertainment options this month. Through 2019, American plans to move the streaming technology to aircraft quipped with Viasat, a competitor to Gogo and the predominant future streaming content provider for the carrier. In all, the airline plans to add live TV streaming service to over 700 aircraft in its narrowbody mainline fleet, which is over 85% of the livery. American also isn't the first carrier to host live streaming television on its flights. Still, as BYOD streaming goes mainstream it's good to see American expanding its content options to allow users to view live content – especially around live events like the Superbowl or the Olympics.
