Amec Foster Wheeler, the engineering company which this week agreed a £2.23 billion all-share offer from Wood Group, said that the five-year deal would involve sustaining US department of defence installations around the world. The engineering and construction work is the latest contract win by Amec in recent weeks and will involve it operating in some of the remotest parts of the world. Under the contract, Amec and other companies will compete for demolition, renovation and construction work. It could also be involved in aircraft fuel storage as well as handling radiological and hazardous waste.
