KUALA LUMPUR: National Human Rights Society (Hakam) chairman Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan said the government must ensure due process was followed in determining Umno’s status. What I wouldn't like is the Registrar of Societies (ROS), perhaps being used in that process. “But at the end of the day, whichever form they are, a good opposition is as important as a good government,” she was quoted as saying by Malaysiakini. “I hope this government will show it is a government for all, including Umno members..,” she said. It was reported that Umno’s status had been questioned following its failure to hold party elections within the time frame imposed by its own constitution.
