Heavy showers have been predicted along with thunderstorms. Hong Kong has been alerted to heavy showers and the amber rainstorm warning is in effect. The thunderstorm warning is also in force, the Hong Kong Observatory said. Isolated thunderstorms are expected to occur over Hong Kong Island and Kowloon. The observatory said a broad trough of low pressure over the northern part of the South China sea will edge closer to the South China coast gradually and will bring showers to the coastal areas.
