Actress and activist Amber Heard recently spoke to hundreds of women about the importance of civic engagement and speaking up, even when it's difficult. She has worked as a Human Rights Champion at the United Nations Human Rights Office and an ambassador at the American Civil Liberties Union and with organizations including the Syrian American Medical Society, Amnesty International, Operation Smile and Planned Parenthood. “Really what connects us all is our basic needs being met—our basic rights being protected. “I can’t think of a more important thing to fight for than our basic human dignity and our basic human rights, and the right to health is one of the most fundamental basic human rights that we hold. And you fight for a world that’s better for you, because why wouldn’t you?
