Congressman Jeffries is a member of the Congressional Bangladesh Caucus. The ambassador briefed him on mutual cooperation between Bangladesh and the US in countering terrorism and violent extremism through intelligence sharing and capacity building. He told the Congressman about Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s policy of “zero tolerance” against all forms of terrorism and violent extremism. He observed that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s past was ‘very traumatic’ and was an ‘extraordinary story’. He assured the ambassador that he would “certainly” do his own bit to contribute to the expansion of bilateral relations.
