Ambassador Jacobson, Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Addis Ababa, met with Mr. Wase Girma, deputy mayor of Jimma and other regional delegates, Jimma, January 12, 2023. Ambassador Jacobson was welcomed by the deputy mayor of Jimma, Mr. Wase Girma, and other regional delegates. With respect to security and stability in Oromia and elsewhere in Ethiopia, Ambassador Jacobson stressed the importance of addressing underlying political and economic challenges. She visited Jimma University and met with Dr. Jemal Abafita, the President of Jimma University, and other senior faculty to discuss ideas for greater collaboration and partnership between the U.S. and Ethiopia in higher education. “The Jimma American Corner is another fantastic example of American-Ethiopian cooperation and collaboration in the Oromia Region,” noted Ambassador Jacobson during her remarks.
