Haneda’s congratulatory statement on the eve of the country’s Independence Day celebration came at a time when Japan and the Philippines are enjoying what he described as the “Golden Age of Strategic Partnership.”Built with a strong bond over the past decade, the Philippine-Japan partnership, according to the Japanese envoy, was further strengthened by the latest visit of President Rodrigo Duterte to Tokyo. “On behalf of the Government and the people of Japan, I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the people of the Philippines in celebrating the 121st anniversary of the independence on June 12, 2019,” Haneda said. Haneda expressed hope that the warm relations existing between Japan and the Philippines “will be further enhanced in the years ahead.”“I wish the Philippine people peace and prosperity over the coming year,” the Japanese ambassador said.
