Amazon registers over 100 per cent growth in India revenues in FY17


MUMBAI | KOLKATA: Amazon on Wednesday said it has more than doubled its business in India in FY17, with over 105% growth in revenues.However, Amazon Seller Services , which earns through commissions, advertisements and shipping fees, posted a 41% rise in FY17 revenue to Rs 3,128 crore, according to filings before the Registrar of Companies on Tuesday. "Comparing like to like, the Amazon Marketplace revenue in India grew by 105% for the year ending March 31, 2017. Demonetisation also affected sales as about 60% of e-commerce transactions are routed through the cash-ondelivery mode. "Last fiscal, the impact on Amazon was across categories -smartphones to electronics to apparel. These are the largest selling and fastest growing segments in e-commerce," said an online seller on Amazon.The executives said Flipkart and other e-commerce firms and marketplaces would report slower growth in FY17.
