Amazon Europe is expanding its Dutch business with the launch of a general merchandise online store. The e-commerce giant has been operating a .nl website since 2014, limited to books sold and shipped by Amazon itself. Now, Amazon will expand to a third-party marketplace open to Dutch and international sellers, wishing to sell in the country and distribute via its Hague fulfillment center. It followed this up with the launch of the online bookshop in 2014 and an AWS office in 2015. What the U.K., France, and Germany have in common is their highly developed retail markets, which the countries are seeking to preserve.
