Donald Trump congratulated Republican Ron Estes for defeating Democrat James Thompson in Tuesday’s special election in Kansas , a seat that became vacant when the president picked tea party congressman Mike Pompeo to lead the CIA. Great win in Kansas last night for Ron Estes, easily winning the Congressional race against the Dems, who spent heavily & predicted victory! The only thing Trump got right in his tweet, however, is the outcome of the race. In an ultra-conservative district that Trump won by 27 points in November, Estes won by only 7 points. They dispatched Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) to stump on behalf of Estes and ran robo-calls from both Trump and Vice President Mike Pence there.
