Almost 50 arrested for falsifying asylum documents in MurciaThe counterfeit work permits were located in Fuente Álamo, San Javier, Lorca and Torre PachecoThe National Police has arrested 46 people accused of falsifying asylum cards to obtain work contracts in the Region of Murcia . The investigation began when a complaint was made against a company accused of hiring staff using counterfeit documentation, and the operation was extended until several cases with the same modus operandi were uncovered in businesses in Fuente Álamo, San Javier Lorca and Torre Pacheco. The Local Immigration and Borders Brigade of Cartagena established that 500 of the asylum cards examined were genuine, while some 100 were false. Consequently, labour inspections were carried out at the premises of the companies and 46 people were arrested. The operation, led by members of the Cartagena National Police Station, drastically reduced the number of counterfeit documents in circulation and the collaboration of companies mainly from the agricultural sector means that businesses can now quickly identify counterfeits.
