The President of the Sri Lanka Public Health Inspectors Union Upul Rohana stated that in view of the current Covid-19 pandemic, the private sector should also be allowed to import Covid vaccines. He said more people are being tested positive for the virus from factories and other workplaces. He said the working people should be given priority in the vaccination drive. “Most cases of Covid infection in Sri Lanka are reported from factories and other workplaces, especially those associated with garment factories. Speaking further, he said, “There is no issue in allowing the private sector to import vaccines into Sri Lanka with permission from the health sector subject to the approval of the National Medicines Regulatory Authority.”
