Alleged sex offender fires legal aid lawyer after advice from Bob Buckingham

A Newfoundland and Labrador man charged with serious sexual offences said Tuesday that he took the advice of a lawyer in private practice and fired his legal aid lawyer. Oldford said he got the advice from high-profile defence lawyer Bob Buckingham in the hallway at provincial court in St. John's on Tuesday morning. He never called me to tell me when the court date was," Oldford told CBC News outside court. Oldford said he approached Buckingham because legal aid was not doing enough for him. Legal aid lawyer Jason Edwards leaves provincial court Tuesday.
