Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu hoped that all sectors of the community will continue to vigorously promote the Constitution and the Basic Law and work together for the steady and long-term implementation of one country, two systems. Lee made the remarks at a symposium commemorating the 33rd anniversary of the promulgation of the Basic Law of the HKSAR held by the Joint Committee for the Promotion of the Constitution and Hong Kong Basic Law on Saturday. The Hong Kong leader said both the Constitution and the Basic Law form the constitutional basis of the city and reflect the inseparable relationship between the central government and Hong Kong. Based on the solid legal foundation jointly established by the Constitution, the Basic Law and the national security law as well as the city's long-term prosperity and stability have been safeguarded in an effective manner, he added. Lee stressed that all sectors should enhance their understanding of the Constitution, the Basic Law and the national security law.
