BCB North Zone and Walton Central Zone got off to winning starts in the Independence Cup, the one-day version tournament of Bangladesh Cricket League, Sunday. North Zone cruised to a eight-wicket victory against BCB South Zone boosted by a joint bowling effort. Winning the toss North Zone opted to field first and restricted South Zone for only 162. In the second game of the day, Central Zone – featuring star all-rounder Shakib al Hasan – registered a 22-run victory over Islami Bank East Zone in a low scoring game. In the second round matches Tuesday, East Zone will face North Zone while Central Zone will take on South Zone.
