The sun is setting over the Blue Mountains. From my window I watch the landscape turn a deeper shade of blue as the faint cerulean haze above the eucalyptus forest fades into dusk. The Indian Pacific train slowly moves up through the mountains. This is my home for the next three nights as we cross Australia from Sydney to Perth, a distance of 2,704 miles. The Indian Pacific.
