Storm Ciaran saw heavy rain hit the county from Wednesday, November 1, and while the worst of the downpours have subsided, the risk of flooding remains throughout Wiltshire. A flood alert remains in place for the East of Swindon and the surrounding areas, and water levels at the River Cole were described as “rising” by the Environment Agency on Saturday morning. River levels also remain high and rising on the River Marden at both Calne and Stanley, where flood alerts are also in place. While the weather for much of the north of Wiltshire is forecast to be fairly mild through the weekend, a yellow weather warning is in place for the south of the county. The warning, which lasts until the end of Saturday, November 4, covers Salisbury and stretches up as far as Westbury.
